Scotland made us feel at home, Bill made us feel like family
Bill was absolutely amazing! He took us all over Isle of Skye over a 2 day trip. We highly recommend doing 2 days instead of just one so you can get out and do all the hikes at each of the locations. Bill was friendly, knowledgeable and knew his way around Skye. It was so nice to be able to sit back and relax while he took is all over the winding one lane roads safely. When we come back, we will definitely use Bill again for a tour!

We had the most amazing visit to Scotland thanks to Bill's guidance. With our base near Inverness overlooking Loch Ness, Bill took us to see the west part of Scotland, the coast, Plockton, over the Skye bridge, Edinburgh with stops along the way ... .and so much more.

The roads in the Highlands are absolutely no joke and I'm so very glad Bill was there to navigate the terrain, allowing us to enjoy the views without stressing over narrow roads and how to yield right-of-way.

He took us to places we'd never have ventured on our own, he filled our days with stunning sights and adventures, answered all our questions including ones we didn't even know to ask and taught us how much our hearts long to return to Scotland ... even before we left. Bill is kind, helpful, knowledgable and easy to work with. He seamlessly adjusted each of our three days together to ensure we had the experiences we wanted in our way-too-short visit to Scotland, all the while taking into consideration the pacing and needs of my 74-year-old father.

The tour felt both personalized and personal as we discussed everything from history to culture to family to daily living in Scotland ... and we even caught an unplanned glimpse of his mom tending her plants when he took us in the direction of his childhood home to get the best views of Edinburgh way above the city while the pink trees were in beautiful bloom.

One of my favorite memories was when Bill turned us loose in a tiny coastal town and said, "go explore." My husband, father and I stumbled into a tiny gin distillery with three small, copper stills tied together on a bar top ... a group of three local residents were just settling in to begin

And he ensured I had every chance possible to see hairy coos.

Honestly, I cannot wait to return and see more of Scotland ... a place where so much of my heart now lives. And without hesitation, I know we will be back in touch with Bill to help us make the most of exploration.

Thank you, Bill!

The BEST EVER customized travel experience with Bill Grant!
I don't often write reviews, but I am delighted to be able to provide this one because of the excellent service that we received from Bill Grant! We had a very good idea of what we wanted to see in Northeast Scotland and in the Highlands/Cairngorms. We oriented our trip primarily around sites relevant to Clan Comyn and seaside villages/coastal life, sharing our itinerary with Bill in advance (and adjusting it beforehand with his input). We spent five glorious spring days traveling with Bill as our guide. Bill was extremely personable, knowledgeable and responsive to our requests, as well as being a safe and careful driver. He quickly got to know us and our preferences during easy conversations, researched questions on most evenings and presented us with options the next day to slightly alter our plans to accommodate interests. As we were traveling, Bill demonstrated thorough knowledge of Scottish history, current events, social conditions and language variations within the country ... all topics of interest to us. His welcome commentary added immensely to our understanding of what we were experiencing. But we could sense, too, that he knew when to let us simply "soak everything in." We wouldn't hesitate to arrange future travel with Bill and would very highly recommend him to others interested in traveling to this stunning part of the world!

This has been our best tour experience ever.
We spent two fantastic days touring with Bill and were thoroughly impressed. He’s friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful—taking time to personalize the itinerary based on our interests, including special stops meaningful to our family. His historical insights added depth to every site, and he made sure we were always comfortable, from offering water to walking us into each stop. The pacing was perfect, with time for photos, garden strolls, and spontaneous moments. Bill’s attention to detail and easygoing manner made this our best tour experience ever. We’re already planning to tour with him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a relaxed, enriching, and personalized way to experience Scotland.

The perfect guide for your trip to Scotland
If you’re looking for the perfect guide for your trip to Scotland, look no further! I cannot recommend Bill Grant enough. We toured with him for 4-5 days, and had such a lovely time. Bill was so knowledgeable, and you can tell he’s truly proud of Scotland and its beauty. We were able to see all of the main tourist attractions, plus many other nooks & crannies of Scotland we never would have seen if we were on a large tour. Everything was well timed and he allowed us adequate time to view the attractions we were at, lots of stops at cafes and shops, and of course…restrooms. (Thanks, Bill!) Also, he was so thoughtful. I was on the hunt for a specific candy to bring home to my son and one morning we got in the van and Bill had it sitting in the seat. I truly appreciated every step, and we can’t wait to come back to tour with Bill again.

Referring to Bill Grant as a "tour guide" is like calling a Ferrari a "car."
If you don't know Bill, you don't know Scotland!!! Bill shared everything he knew about the length, breadth and width of Scottish history, culture and even humor. More importantly, he did so in an edifying and natural way, never utilizing some boring tour guide rote. We were blessed to have him tour us privately throughout the country for four days and we can truly say this: If you don't know Bill, you don't know Scotland! Bill also served as our guardian angel. He ensured that we embarked and disembarked, entered and exited through the correct spots. And when we missed a boat ride due to operator error, he quickly recalculated exactly how we could still catch a different boat at a different launch and STILL retain our itinerary for the day! The vehicles Bill used for touring were extraordinarily comfortable and you are unlikely to find another native Scottsman with his deft driving abilities. Bill was a gift to us and far surpassed any reasonable expectations we had. We cannot recommend him enough!

Impeccable customer service
We loved our day with Bill as he gave us a transfer tour from Inverness to Glasgow. He showed us exactly what we asked for and filled in the day with other notable stops that were perfect. His customer service was impeccable, he was extremely knowledgeable about Scotland and its history (and all other topics we talked about), and made our transfer to Glasgow exactly what we asked for. I highly recommend Bill.

Seeing Scotland with a true fan is the best

Bill Grant is a terrific tour guide: knowledgeable, kind, passionate about Scotland sites and history. He especially wants you to know and love it as he does. We do, Bill, we do! Thanks for stepping in and taking on our tour and treating us to a memorable day! Review of: Over The Sea to (secret) Skye

Bill Grant; storyteller extraordinaire
We were taken on two stunning tours by the legendary Bill Grant, storyteller extraordinaire – one all around magical Loch Ness and the other on a quest to follow in the footsteps of the Picts. The weather was a massive mix of torrential rain and hill mist, but Bill kept us supremely comfortable, with a beautifully warm vehicle, enormous umbrellas to borrow, and wonderful little coffee shops to stop at. And when the sun did break through, Bill seemed to have the knack of being at places with the most breathtaking views, for us to have a wander and to take in the wonderful Scottish air. We experienced Fort Augustus, Urquhart Castle and a beautiful and unexpected Summer House in the woods on our first day, and the Seaboard Villages, Tor Ness Lighthouse and Dunrobin Castle on our second day - interspersed with deer, a clog shop, a mermaid and a Pictish Queen, to name but a few additional treats. And Bill’s storytelling to wrap around everything… Every landmark, house, hill, monument (and the occasional tree) on our trips had a story as Bill uncovered the history, cultures and traditions that have combined to make Scotland the magical place that it is. As each day came to an end it was impossible to believe that we had been to so many places and done so much. I cannot recommend Bill’s tours of Scotland too highly. Bill is courtesy itself, a wonderful host and a fascinating storyteller, with a knowledge of his native Scotland that is as passionate as it is deep. With huge thanks to Bill for being such a wonderful guide, and I’m already choosing which tour to go on next…

A wonderful life altering experience
We spent 8 plus hours with Bill Grant, the owner and guide of this tour.

Pros: - Excellent private tour. He drove and led my wife and I around Isle of Skye as well as other areas over an 8 hour period.

Knowledge of the history of Scotland was outstanding. Not only did we learn about the different landmarks of Isle of Skye, but we got to know much about the history of Scotland as it related to the different aspects of the Highlands and to each landmark. More importantly, Bill has a way with presenting such things in a fascinating way to keep one's attention. He also adjusted the level of discussion and topics of discussion to hold interest for both me and my wife. My wife had interests that were different from mine, and so Bill made the subtle adjustments in paying attention to each of our interests and made sure to devote time to each of our interests and questions. And did we have a lot of questions!!! Bill rattled off responses with intentional and thoughtfulness providing good content.

He is flexible. The tour starts in Inverness, and he guides the clients along the drive from Inverness into Isle of Skye. However, we were staying in Morvich, much further south. Bill drove all the way to our remote airbnb residence and started the tour from where we were staying. He rearranged the itinerary to fit our location. He also had to adjust for the weather because we had weather ranging from occasional sprinkles to drizzle to sheets of rain to open sunny skies. In all of these climate changes, Bill showed how the Highlands offered different beauties in each situation. It was surreal in a wonderful way.

We also had a flat tire on our car rental, and we asked Bill to drop by the grocery store at the end of the tour, so we could get some food to cook for dinner. He knew just the place to go to, and we got the supplies we needed.

Because of Bill we received an in-depth understanding of Scotland and exposure to the wondrous beauties of the Highlands. HIs command of the facts and making them fascinating kept us wanting to know more and see more as the tour progressed.

In addition, we also learned about contemporary Scottish culture as we discussed rugby, golf, current government structure, food, celebration of holidays, the language, and more.

We saw many of the popular landmarks, but then we also toured at out of the way areas where we stopped at a pub where I had a beer. Bill does not drink while driving, so he was fine with a glass of water. His goal was to have us have a bit of experience at a local pub, and it was fun.

By the end of the day, I wanted to move to the Highlands myself. It is a truly special place. It's God's country, and Bill helped showed us this. He also was more than helpful in taking photos of my wife and I, and he took good ones!

I unequivocally recommend Bill for private tours with the highest of recommendations. We have already added plans to bring our adult kids here to tour with him, but we know now to add other aspects of the Highlands. Bill has a few other tours that he does with Inverness and other areas of the Highlands.

Cons: - I did not know that the Highlands was such a special place, and I would have arranged for at least a 2-day or 3-day tour of the Highlands with Bill. There is is so much to see. -The other con is that Bill made me realize how awful other tours I have had. He has set the bar very high now, and it will be difficult for us to find other private tours with quality and experience on par with his tour.

We are very proud of the reviews we are fortunate to receive from our clients. There's more!
